DMOZ

DMOZ has been offline for days and days now as far as adding new sites is concerned.

I'm just glad normal website owners and managers don't deliver there sites with such inadequacies. Fair enough, there seems to be loads of reasons flying round the web as to why its down; ranging from database update to hardware failure.

Looking at this from a sensible perspective, every site can have technical problems, get updated or re-written, but come on, days and days?

If your upgrading the back-end database, theres no reason to take the front end down. If its a hardware failure then replace the hardware and restore from backup. It not that difficult.

When you have millions of users, are ranked highly in search engines, and input into creating the searchable web theres some responsibility to the internet users, and even though its not a legal one it's certainly an ethical one.
